丹之寶將於2025台南藝術博覽會以「汲古求新:古典新貌」為主題策展,旨在探討藝術如何在現代社會中將過往經驗化為展望未來的敦厚基石,展覽主題也呼應此展會舉辦地點:台南市,這座歷史悠久的都市。作為台灣最古老的城市之一,台南市見證了台灣的歷史、文化和經濟發展軌跡,並且都市文化從傳統中汲取精萃、跨越數世紀的多元融合,從原住民文化到荷蘭、明鄭、清朝、日本到現代的演變,台南在不同時期扮演了不同的角色,但始終是台灣文化能量蓬勃的重要載體。本次展覽丹之寶將呈現喜馬拉雅藝術家 Tenzin Gyurmey DorjeeZimbiriGyempo WangchukPassang Tobgay等橫跨不丹、印度及西藏地區藝術家,與台灣藝術家蕭博駿、洪永欣、蔡名璨、陳帟覠等藝術家的創作,內容涵括平面繪畫、水墨及雕塑,在呈現多層次的視覺體驗的同時,將傳統文化與當代藝術的創新精神融合的精神、與台南的城市文化背景呼應,展覽不僅是對過去經驗的回顧,也是對未來的展望與探索。

喜馬拉雅地區的文化深根於當地的宗教背景,反映出人類對自然、生命與宇宙關係平衡的探索。而承載了這份深厚底蘊的喜馬拉雅藝術家們,在創作中巧妙地將傳統符號與文化象徵融入,作品蘊含著對宇宙秩序的認知,並傳達了人類與自然力量之間的無形聯繫,映射出喜馬拉雅文化所強調的對於生命的深刻敬畏與理解。特別介紹印度籍藏裔藝術家 Tenzin Gyurmey DorjeeTenzin Gyurmey Dorjee 2024年首屆魯賓美術館喜馬拉雅藝術大獎得主,此獎項為鼓勵創作輝映出喜馬拉雅語彙特性、深具前瞻性的藝術家而設立。Gyurmey 擅長將全球性議題化約為可以感知的日常經驗,身為喜馬拉雅文化的跨國公民,Gyurmey自身的生命軌跡從藏區不斷地遷徙、最終落地印度,造成種種的相遇與分離,他將自己移民者的身份與喜馬拉雅地區的共同經歷交織其中;同時,Gyurmey亦受美式文化影響,他將幼時接觸過的美式卡通及漫畫元素加入作品,在原麻布上使用層疊及刮除壓克力顏料的手法,既製造了特殊的肌理效果,也和畫中所保留的大量空白畫面呼應,使離散的缺失在畫面中與美好記憶重逢,為觀眾留下想像與詮釋的空間,也讓他成為目前國際備受矚目的喜馬拉雅藝術新星。

台灣當代水墨藝術與丹之寶持續關注的新東方精神兩相契合,藝術家蕭博駿、洪永欣、蔡名璨的水墨膠彩創作在根植於深厚的傳統藝術土壤的同時,不斷在個人創作中挑戰傳統與當代之間的界限。蕭博駿的創作取材自敦煌壁畫題材,他將敦煌壁畫的符號元素如祥雲、瑞龍等融入作品,藉由隱喻的藝術手法討論自身的生命哲學。蕭博駿擅用天然礦物顏料,以天然礦物顏料的特性巧妙處理畫面質感,打破繪畫的平面性,將其視覺轉化為具體而有力量的立體形象。洪永欣以仿中古壁畫的寓言式創作,將內在感受用活潑的筆觸與天然礦物顏料、天然土繪具疊加成形,作品在刻意洗刷所造成的斑駁感中,賦予畫中角色「動感」的錯覺,營造出神聖又靈動的風格。蔡名璨擅長將日常生活中的瞬間透過水墨表現出來,作品強調對時間、記憶與存在的感知。蔡名璨以數十次的乾濕暈染疊加水墨於宣紙上,作品中的神獸動物在反覆描繪下呈現飽滿的形象,他藉由這種創作方式表現虛實相間、展現出水墨畫的無限可能性。陳帟覠的作品以天然礦石與陶土進行融合。陶土在燒製後會因水分蒸發使體積縮小,這項變動因素讓礦石與陶器的結合增加了許多不確定性,也更顯得陳帟覠作品的珍貴性。對陳帟覠而言,陶與礦在她的手中不僅是材料的呈現,更是時間與自然力量的對話,每一件作品都承載著無法重複的生命歷程。

丹之寶藝術家們以各自獨特的視角將傳統與當代相融合,他們的作品不僅僅是視覺的享受,更是跨越文化界限與時間的對話。無論是對文化哲學的深刻思考,還是對自我身份的探索,每一件作品都深刻反映出藝術家們對過去的敬畏與對未來的期待。丹之寶期盼透過這次展覽,激發觀眾對於當代藝術更多層次的理解,並鼓勵觀眾反思如何在無窮無盡的文化交織中,保持對自身根源的深刻認識與創新的追求。

Tansbao will curate the 2025 Tainan Art Expo under the theme “Drawing from the Past, Seeking the New: Classical Reinterpretations.” The exhibition explores how art transforms past experiences into a foundation for envisioning the future in modern society. The theme also resonates with the event’s location, Tainan City, one of Taiwan’s oldest cities, rich in history. Tainan has witnessed Taiwan’s cultural, historical, and economic development, drawing from diverse influences—from indigenous cultures to Dutch, Ming Zheng, Qing, Japanese, and modern periods. Despite changing roles over time, Tainan remains a vital hub of Taiwan’s cultural energy.

The exhibition will showcase artists from the Himalayan region, including Tenzin Gyurmey Dorjee, Zimbiri, Gyempo Wangchuk, and Passang Tobgay, alongside Taiwanese artists like Hsiao Po-chun, Hong Yong-xin, Tsai Ming-tsan, and Chen Yi-jun. Their works—spanning painting, ink art, and sculpture—offer a multi-layered visual experience that blends traditional culture with the innovative spirit of contemporary art. The exhibition not only reflects on the past but also serves as a platform for exploring and envisioning the future, in harmony with Tainan’s cultural heritage.

The culture of the Himalayan region is deeply rooted in the local religious background, reflecting humanity’s exploration of the balance between nature, life, and the universe. The Himalayan artists, who carry this profound cultural heritage, skillfully integrate traditional symbols and cultural representations into their works. These artworks embody an understanding of the cosmic order and convey the invisible connection between humans and natural forces. They reflect the deep reverence and understanding of life emphasized in Himalayan culture. A special highlight will be Indian-born Tibetan artist Tenzin Gyurmey Dorjee, who is the recipient of the 2024 inaugural Rubin Museum Himalayan Art Award. This award is given to artists whose work reflects the unique characteristics of the Himalayan region and demonstrates a forward-thinking vision. Gyurmey is adept at distilling global issues into tangible everyday experiences. As a transnational citizen of the Himalayan culture, his own life trajectory, shaped by constant migration, brings encounters and separations, intertwining his identity as an immigrant with the shared experiences of the Himalayan region. Influenced by American culture, Gyurmey incorporates elements of American cartoons and comics into his works. Using layering and scraping techniques with acrylic paint on raw burlap, he creates unique texture effects and dialogues with the extensive blank spaces in his paintings. This interplay allows the fragmented absences to reunite with beautiful memories on the canvas, leaving space for viewers to imagine and interpret, positioning him as an internationally acclaimed rising star in Himalayan art.

The contemporary ink art of Taiwan aligns closely with the new Eastern spirit that Tansbao continues to focus on. Artists such as Hsiao Po-chun, Hong Yong-xin, and Tsai Ming-tsan challenge the boundaries between tradition and contemporary art through their ink and glue painting creations, while remaining rooted in deep traditional artistic soil. Hsiao Po-chun draws inspiration from Dunhuang murals, incorporating symbolic elements such as auspicious clouds and dragons into his works. Through metaphorical artistic techniques, he reflects on his personal philosophy of life. Hsiao is known for his use of natural mineral pigments, expertly manipulating their properties to enhance the texture of his paintings, breaking the flatness of traditional painting and transforming the visual experience into a vivid, powerful three-dimensional image. Hong Yong-xin’s works are inspired by ancient mural fables, using lively brushstrokes and natural mineral pigments and earth-based tools to form his creations. The deliberate distressing techniques in his paintings create an illusion of movement, lending a sacred yet dynamic style to the figures. Tsai Ming-tsan excels at capturing moments from daily life through ink painting, emphasizing the perception of time, memory, and existence. His works are made by layering dry and wet ink techniques on paper, with his mythical animals gradually taking on fuller forms through repeated depictions. This method of creation reflects the interplay between reality and illusion, demonstrating the infinite possibilities of ink art. Chen Yi-jun’s works blend natural minerals and clay. After firing, the clay shrinks due to moisture evaporation, adding uncertainty to the combination of minerals and ceramics, enhancing the preciousness of her pieces. For Chen, clay and minerals are not just materials but dialogues between time and natural forces, with each piece carrying an irreplaceable life journey.

Tansbao’s artists, through their unique perspectives, merge tradition with contemporary art. Their works are not only a visual feast but also a dialogue that transcends cultural boundaries and time. Whether contemplating cultural philosophy or exploring personal identity, each piece profoundly reflects the artists’ reverence for the past and their expectations for the future. Tansbao hopes that this exhibition will inspire a deeper understanding of contemporary art among the audience and encourage them to reflect on how, in the endless interweaving of cultures, one can maintain a profound connection to their own roots and pursue innovation.
