此外,本次個展亦將呈現藝術家最新平面創作,包括特別為此次博覽會全新創作的《Eye of the Tiger》與《The Birdman Spirit (Garuda)》。

TANSBAO Gallery is honored to present the solo exhibition project by represented artist Tsherin Sherpa at ART TAICHUNG. As a key advocate of Himalayan modern and contemporary aesthetics, the gallery has maintained a strong collaboration with Sherpa, consistently positioning his practice within a broader global contemporary art discourse through dedicated curatorial initiatives.

Tsherin Sherpa stands as one of the most internationally influential Himalayan contemporary artists today. His work consistently explores themes of cultural translation, identity, and spirituality. This presentation follows a milestone period for the artist; in May 2026, Sherpa completed his major solo exhibition, Endless Flow — Tsherin Sherpa’s Himalayan Contemporary Art, at the Mongolian and Tibetan Cultural Center (Ministry of Culture) in Taipei, Taiwan, which offered a systematic overview of his creative evolution and cultural roots. Sherpa’s international presence continues to grow through upcoming institutional solo exhibitions, including the debut of Divine Disruption: The Art of Tsherin Sherpa at the Honolulu Museum of Art, followed by planned presentations at the Seattle Art Museum. These major museum engagements underscore his rising visibility within the global art field and the strong resonance of his artistic vision.

The solo exhibition presented at ART TAICHUNG focuses on the artist’s reflections on culture, faith, and collective memory, offering a comprehensive view of his creative trajectory. A key highlight is the Wish-fulfilling Tree series, which combines traditional gilding techniques with a minimalist contemporary language, transforming Himalayan prayer culture into spatial installations that create a spiritual environment within the exhibition space and function as contemporary altars. The exhibition also features the sculptures Heart Sutra and the gilded gold and bronze Mudras, translating the relationship between gesture, language, and spiritual states into tangible forms, cultivating a quiet, nuanced experience for the viewer.

In addition, this solo presentation introduces the artist’s latest paintings, Eye of the Tiger and The Birdman Spirit (Garuda).

Eye of the Tiger explores and celebrates intensity, burning determination, unwavering focus, fearlessness, and inner strength, echoing the spirit of the iconic song “Eye of the Tiger” from Rocky III (1982). The series was first conceived in 2022 as a carpet design, developed in response to the preservation of Himalayan carpet traditions and motifs, and has since evolved into a broader visual exploration of resilience and power.

The Birdman Spirit (Garuda) is inspired by Garuda, a divine half-bird, half-human figure in Buddhist mythology and a protective deity. Symbolizing speed, power, and loyalty, Garuda is traditionally regarded as a guardian figure; in many ancient temples across Nepal, Garuda sculptures are placed at temple entrances as protectors of sacred space.

Through this presentation at ART TAICHUNG, TANSBAO Gallery invites audiences and collectors to enter Tsherin Sherpa’s unique contemporary artistic discourse. By experiencing a body of work rooted in ancient civilization yet perpetually evolving in the modern era, the gallery aims to further expand the profound dialogue surrounding Himalayan contemporary art between Asia and the international stage.
